days in Vancouver, BC Canada - Visitor's Guide
(Walk, Bus or Drive from Arbutus Vista Bed and Breakfast Vancouver Location)
This is
a suggested guide of walks to take and places to visit in Vancouver
during a short stay.
The departure point is from the intersection of King Edward Avenue and Arbutus
street , one very short block from 'Arbutus Vista' Vancouver Bed Breakfast.

Day 1 - Walk
to Kitsilano Beach (a good 30 minutes walk from Arbutus Vista Bed and Breakfast Vancouver Location)
This will take you through Arbutus
(North) where you will find many shops, boutiques and restaurants
located in Arbutus Point, cross 4th Avenue and continue Northward
on Arbutus to the beach.

From there stroll on Kits Beach
and walk Eastward to Vanier Park with gorgeous views of the
West End and Downtown. Alternatively you can walk Westward
on the beach from the Kitsilano swimming pool until
you find the stairs to Yew street . This is particularly beautiful
just before sunset.
You can then walk back on Yew street
(uphill for a short time, then flat terrain) all the way until
you reach 22 nd Avenue . You are back at 'Arbutus Vista' Vancouver
bed breakfast!
Alternatively you could also
walk Eastward to the following, which are all very close
to one another: the Vancouver Museum , the Planetarium and
the Mac Millan Bloedel Space Centre. Stop by for a short
visit at the Maritime Museum to see the St-Roch ship (first
to sail the Inside Passage across North Canada).

From there you can walk Eastward
under the Burrard bridge to Granville Island , or you could
board the Aquabus to Granville Island , or to the West End
and Stanley Park .

On Granville Island you will find
the fresh food and flower market (closed Monday) and many artisan
studios and shops (pottery, glass, etc...). There are also restaurants
and canoe/kayak rentals. The admission ticket to the Granville
Island micro-brewery includes healthy un-pasteurized micro-beer
tasting (4 glasses), a half hour tour of the brewery and a souvenir
glass.

A short walk South under the
Granville Bridge takes you to the corner of Granville an
4th where you can catch bus #16 which will take you back
to Arbutus Vista Bed and Breakfast Vancouver Location.

Day 2 - Downtown
Take bus #16 (1 minute walk from
our B&B) to Yaletown.

From there, you can walk to:
False Creek North



GM Place and the Vancouver Public
Library

Coal Harbour



Gastown (http://www.gastown.org) -
You will hear the 1977 built Steam Clock Chime every 15 minutes.




Canada Place - Cruise ships terminal
- Seabus terminal to Lonsdale (North Vancouver)






Robson Street - Popular street
for shopping, very busy on week-end. (photos taken on a very
quiet day!)



Vancouver Art Gallery

Provincial Law Court

Take bus # 19 (at Granville and
Robson) to Stanley Park . In the summer there is a free trolleybus
going around Stanley Park . Stop to visit the Vancouver Aquarium
and admire the numerous Totems as well as the incredible view
on the bay.













Alternatively, from Granville and
Robson visit Chinatown (better during the day
for your safety) - the renowned Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese
Garden (578 Carrall Street), the Vancouver Chinatown Millennium
Gates, shopping and restaurants (http://www.vancouver-chinatown.com).





By now, you know the way back to
'Arbutus Vista' Vancouver bed breakfast!
Day 3 - Excursions
North Shore: Take
bus #16 (get a transfer ticket) then board the Seabus (with
your transfer ticket). 18 minutes ride. Or, you can drive to
the North Shore via the Lions Gate bridge.



Then you have the following
choices:
From the Lonsdale Quay take bus
#236 to the Capilano Suspension Bridge . 11 to 15 minutes ride.

From there you can continue on the
same bus to Grouse Mountain . 5 minutes ride. (http://www.grousemtn.com).
On the way you can also stop and visit a salmon hatchery (free).






Stanley Park and Vancouver
Aquarium (directly from 'Arbutus Vista' Vancouver
bed breakfast):
Take bus # 16 (Northbound) on Arbutus
Street (1 minute walk from our B&B). At Granville and West
Pender transfer to bus # 19 to Stanley Park . 31 minute ride.

Queen Elizabeth Park and/or
Oakridge Shopping Centre:
Take bus # 25 on King Edward (Eastbound,
1 minute walk) and walk up to Queen Elizabeth Park for a stunning
view on Vancouver and beautiful gardens. From there you can
also transfer to bus #15 (Southbound) to Oakridge Centre (Cambie
and 41 st).

UBC museum of Anthropology:
Take bus # 25 on King Edward Avenue
(Westbound, 1 minute walk) to Westbrook Mall Avenue. Transfer
to bus # 49 (Metrotown Stn bound). 25 minutes ride. Alternatively
you could stay in bus #25 until the UBC loop and walk about
10 minutes from there to the museum (6393 Northwest Marine
Drive) (http://www.moa.ubc.ca).













Deep Cove (on
the North Shore):
Take bus # 16 Northbound.
At Granville and Pender transfer to bus # 210 (direction:
Upper Lynn). At Phibbs exchange (on the North shore) transfer
to bus 212 (direction: Deep Cove) or bus 211 (direction:
Seymour). Go to the end of the line: Deep Cove. (1 hour bus ride).








Ferry to Victoria:
Take bus # 25 on King Edward Avenue
(Westbound, 1 minute walk). At Granville street (4 minutes
ride) transfer to Bus # 601 (South Delta bound). 57 minutes
ride to Ladner Exchange. Transfer to bus # 640, 12 minutes
ride to Tsawassen Ferry Terminal. (Alternatively use a coach to go to Victoria with better comfort: http://www.pacificcoach.com or http://www.grayline.ca).
